We don't average ratings across platforms — that would let Google dominate every calculation. Instead we use Bayesian averaging per platform, log-scaled confidence weighting, and fixed platform credibility weights with a 40% platform influence cap.

A restaurant with 800 Google reviews and 12 Tripadvisor reviews gets a fair composite — not a Google-dominated score.

Data freshness

All data is refreshed weekly. Delivery platform pricing is checked twice weekly. Review data is aggregated weekly. Menu and hours data refreshed every 7–14 days depending on source.

OUR STORY

Built by a restaurateur,
for restaurateurs

HorecaIntel was born out of a frustration that every independent restaurant owner knows: the big chains and delivery platforms have all the data. They know which price points work, which dishes are trending, which competitors are gaining ground. Independent restaurants are flying blind.

We built HorecaIntel to give independent restaurateurs the same intelligence that enterprise chains use — delivered weekly, personalised to your restaurant and your market, at a price that makes sense for an independent business.

Why we're different

Most market intelligence tools are built for analysts, not operators. They're expensive, complex, and require a team to interpret. HorecaIntel reports are written for the person who reads them at 7am before service — clear, actionable, and specific to your business.

We are starting in Belgium, where we have direct domain knowledge. Our founder owns and operates Chandigarh, a vegetarian Indian restaurant in Brussels. Every feature we build is tested against a real restaurant with real competitive pressures.

The roadmap

We are in pilot phase with our founding cohort in Brussels. Antwerp expansion is planned for later in 2026. We will expand to other Belgian cities and eventually European markets — always with the same commitment to independence, accuracy, and operator-first design.
